Ruth B. Bio July 2026 Platinum-selling singer-songwriter Ruth B. burst onto the charts in 2013, when a snippet of the first song she ever penned, “Lost Boy,” found viral success. Since then, the song has earned 2x Platinum certification in the U.S. and surpassed 1.3 billion streams globally. The years that followed brought even more major success for the Ethiopian-Canadian artist. Her track “Dandelions” took on a life of its own across TikTok, generating more than 6.4 billion listens and soundtracking countless fan-led videos, while her song “Superficial Love” has also repeatedly gone viral years after its release. Ruth B. won the JUNO Award for Breakthrough Artist following the release of her debut EP, The Intro (2015), before releasing her debut, now Platinum, full-length album Safe Haven (2017) and sophomore project Moments In Between (2021). With more than 9 billion total global streams, 16.5 million monthly listeners on Spotify, and averaging 15 million streams consistently week after week for the last 3 years in a row, she’s ready to present all those fans into a fresh era of new music. Ruth enters a new chapter with Peace to Make, out August 21 via ALTER Music/Artist Theory, with her most vulnerable and self-assured body of work to date. Produced by 6x Grammy winner Cole M.G.N. (Beck, Carly Rae Jepsen, Christine and The Queens), the album explores heartbreak, healing, and self-reclamation. Led by tracks “Bad Combination,” “Didn’t I,” and “Best Days,” Peace to Make captures the messiness of grief, growth, and, ultimately, finding peace. “Now that I’m older, I’ve figured out who I am as a person,” Ruth says. It’s a sentiment that anchors the album and signals a powerful new era, one that reveals both a new sound and a version of Ruth she’s spent her entire life becoming. “I look back, and I wish I enjoyed it more,” she says of her early success. “But it gave me a lot of perspective.” Much of that perspective came during a five-year hiatus from the stage and studio, brought on by a “really long and wrong relationship” that left her feeling disconnected from herself and her instincts. But as fate would have it, performing would bring her back to herself. She recently got back on stage with rapper and singer Rod Wave, who invited her up to sing his No. 1 track “Street Runner,” which samples her 2017 hit “Mixed Signals” at a sold-out arena show. It was this moment and all the clips that were then circulated widely online after that gave Ruth a clarifying moment - she is an artist and a performer. So, after half a decade of abandoning herself, she felt pulled to create and write music again. “It was this self-discovery era of my life,” she says. Peace To Make is her most vulnerable work to date. The new album traces the emotional residue of a long, misaligned relationship and the slow, deliberate process of reclaiming herself in its aftermath. “[The album] really does document every phase, whether it’s the part where you’re really sad, or the part where you’re partying too much, or the end where you make peace with all of it,” she says. Lead track “Bad Combination” is a propulsive, drum-driven track about searching for love in the wrong places post-heartbreak. “It’s a part of my life that I typically wouldn’t talk about in my music,” she says. “But with this album, what really pushed me was trying to be as honest and real and raw as possible and not keep it as polished as I have in the past.” On “Didn’t I,” she sings about the moment when your ex tries to come back. “It’s a very confrontational song,” she says. “One of my favorite lyrics that I’ve ever written is in that song: ‘I gave you all the air in my lungs till I had none for myself.’ It explains that relationship in general.” On “Jealous,” she writes about unrequited devotion, leaning into her ethereal vocals as she concludes, “Just because you love somebody it’s true, doesn’t mean the love's coming back to you.” With Peace to Make, Ruth isn’t just reflecting on who she was, she’s stepping into a version of herself defined by clarity, conviction, and self-trust, a transition that has been decades in the making. This latest release promises to give fans a fresh era of music from the singer, who is more self-assured in her art and craft than ever before. “Now that I’m older, I’ve figured out who I am as a person,” Ruth says. Peace to Make, at its core, is about learning to trust yourself and that self-actualization can be heard in Ruth’s echoing closing track “Pick Me,” as she reveals “Now I love who is staring back at me when I look in the mirror,” landing on the revelation: “The best thing I ever did was pick me.”
