About Richie Kotzen
When RICHIE KOTZEN plays his guitar, you know it’s him.  The guitar virtuoso, singer and songwriter possesses an inimitable style that’s both instantly recognizable and immediately striking.  This unique style courses through THE ESSENTIAL RICHIE KOTZEN, a career retrospective collection set for release September 2 on Loud & Proud Records.  It encompasses this iconic talent’s entire career of his most essential work and includes two CDs of classic material, acoustic performances, bootleg material and two brand new songs (“War Paint” and “Walk With Me”), and a DVD of music videos, acoustic performances and bootleg material.  A three-song sampler, including the two new songs along with “Lie To Me,” is being serviced to rock radio stations later this month. Fans can pre-order the album at http://bit.ly/1oXRsUX.   KOTZEN personally curated THE ESSENTIAL RICHIE KOTZEN from his 18 solo albums in order to give listeners the most comprehensive, cohesive and concise introduction to his extensive body of work.  “I’ve really changed and grown as an artist and as a person,” he says.  “I hand-selected songs so newcomers can get into my music and learn who I am as a recording artist.”   “War Paint” builds from an opening bluesy riff into a bombastic chorus punctuated by KOTZEN’s gravelly delivery and impeccable lead playing.  He explains, “It was a challenge to make a studio recording sound like a live band with only one musician playing all the instruments.  I think I accomplished that on this track.”  At the same time, “Walk With Me” sees KOTZEN evolving once more and incorporating a Theremin, an antique electronic instrument, into an emotive and engaging anthem.  “There was a specific sound I was hearing in the song,” he reveals.  “I realized it was a Theremin, so I bought one.  I spent a couple of weeks learning it.  I used that where the lead guitar would normally go.  It was a really rewarding departure for me.”   With his guitar styles ranging from rock, blues, jazz and fusion to pop and soul, RICHIE KOTZEN has built a remarkably diverse 20 year career as a guitarist, singer and songwriter.  During that span, KOTZEN toured with his trio extensively outside the United States, building a loyal fan base and selling out shows throughout Europe, Latin America, and Japan.  In 1996, Fender guitars honored him with not one, but two signature model guitars.  His signature model Telecaster is available worldwide and continues to be a top seller for the brand.  In 2006, KOTZEN received one of his biggest personal honors when The Rolling Stones chose him to open up a string of Japanese shows placing him in front of some of his biggest crowds to date.  He has not only built an incredibly successful solo career, but has also found himself writing, recording and playing live with a variety of different artists, including Jazz legends Stanley Clarke and Lenny White.  He currently plays guitar and fronts the band The Winery Dogs with bassist Billy Sheehan and drummer Mike Portnoy (the band’s self-titled debut album debuted at #27 on the Billboard “Top 200 Albums” chart).    With his 20th full-length solo album on the horizon for 2015 as well as countless gigs, RICHIE KOTZEN’s legacy is only continuing to expand.  “When you perform, record or write, you go to a different place,” he concludes.  “It’s another world. I love hearing people react to the music and lyrics.  That’s the ultimate reward.” www.richiekotzen.com www.facebook.com/richiekotzenmusic www.twitter.com/Richie_Kotzen www.youtube.com/user/Headroominc www.youtube.com/channel/UCFsuTwk0dVjXu6z7UHKeC7A

What’s the venue very good acoustic space was higher than Richie’s guitar. Five second row seats ended up having to stand up the entire time as the first row decided they would stand up instead of sitting in their seats and making it an easy view for everybody behind them kind of pointless to buy really good seats if you have to stand up. John 5 was amazing. Friendly staff Parking was easy.

Great night. The venue suited the stripped back vibe and the band was on it from the get go. There was a lengthy wait to get started from doors opening but otherwise glad I was there. One slight grumble is that the merch was cash only which is a miss, as far as I’m concerned. Man, the guy can play and sing with the best of ‘em!

I did a meet and greet with Richie again for the 7th time and it was the best one yet! The show was fantastic and Richie was in a great mood and that really came across in the way he meshed seamlessly with the band. You could tell everyone on stage was having a great time! The sound was fantastic as always in this venue.

Great venue and sound system! Richie, Dylan, and Kyle were awesome! Band is super tight for a three piece, and Richie’s vocals and guitar work were incredible! Been waiting a long time to see this band, and I was not disappointed! Shout out to the great opening band as well! Mark Daly and the Ravens brought some energetic rock music from Ireland to get everyone ready for Richie!

Corabi was very cool. Not a big fan of his but I thoroughly enjoyed his acoustic opening set. Kotzen was his usual eccentric but bohemian-cool self. Tore it up with that fascinating finger-style picking that just doesn't seem like it could ever be effective with the rock stuff he plays, but he's a monster talent in every way.

Great show! Good venue! Great night! The band came on stage looking enthusiastic and ready to tear it up. Well-paced set with hard rockers, grooves and a few ballads. Richie's tone and chops are awe-inspiring! Dylan Wilson on bass and drummer Bruno Valverde both showed off their chops too. It's not always about Richie!

The only reason it’s not a whole five stars is that the attendance was subpar for such an incredible talent. I’m 66 and I’ve seen everybody. Richie may be the most multitalented guy I’ve ever seen perform live. Probably the best bang for the buck I’ve had for a concert in years. Maybe decades.

Awesome show. Richie, Bruno and Dylan were in top form and put on a really great performance. Love seeing Bruno back on the drum kit for Richie. Saw him on the Smith/Kotzen tour. Richie's guitar tone was damn tasty as usual. Dylan's bass playing and tone was crisp and punchy.

Richie Kotzen concert was amazing. The sound was fantastic. We also saw him at the Iridium and the Ardmore Theater. My favorite performance was Ardmore. Fabulous sound, very intimate and comfortable. Plus Mike Portnoy sat in for a song. Bonus Plan!! Richie is a musicians, musician. A must see.
