Reel 2 Real emerged in the early ’90s as a high-energy house project led by acclaimed DJ and producer Erick Morillo. The project’s first release, “The New Anthem” (1992), quickly became an underground club favorite. Momentum grew with the follow-up single “Go On Move” (1993), featuring the unmistakable voice of rapper Mark Quashie, better known as The Mad Stuntman. The strong reggae and dub influences of the record became the project’s signature sound. In 1994, Reel 2 Real released “I Like To Move It,” a global anthem that became one of the most recognizable dance hits of the 1990s. Follow-up singles including “Can You Feel It?”, “Raise Your Hands,” “Conway,” and new commercial remixes of “Go On Move” further confirmed Reel 2 Real’s success across the United States and Europe. In 1996, the project returned with releases such as “Are You Ready For Some More?”, which leaned more toward the Eurodance sound of the era. “Jazz It Up,” originally released as an instrumental by the Erick Morillo Project, featured collaborations with Barbara Tucker and Charlotte Small, while “Move Your Body (Mueve La Cadera)” included a collaboration with Proyecto Uno. Although the Reel 2 Real project eventually concluded, The Mad Stuntman remains actively performing around the world, bringing the energy and iconic voice behind these legendary dance anthems to audiences internationally and continuing to celebrate the music that defined a generation.
