Shagwüf is a fierce, uncompromising, power trio from the formidable Virginia DIY music scene. Formed in 2014 by bassist Sally Rose and guitarist Pete Stallings, Shagwüf released three full-length albums and two EPs with Argentine drummer Pablo Olivieri. By 2024’s Tres Animales, Shagwüf had proven to be consistent sonic explorers with elements of psych-rock, 60s-era power pop, and fuzzed-out metal riffs sharing equal space. Starting a new chapter with ace drummer Brittany Horkan on drums in 2026, the band has stayed true to its fiercely independent JAM ECONO ethos and strong convictions on social justice. Shagwüf consistently makes their case for a more inclusive and intersectional future. In the words of SPIN Magazine, "Shagwüf is arguably the best band ever to come out of Charlottesville.” Donning accolades like Best Rock Band in Richmond’s RVA Magazine Reader’s Poll & Song of the Day by NPR, Shagwüf is living proof that independent underdogs can make a name for themselves by embodying joy as an act of resistance. “The long and short of it: Shagwüf embodies rock ’n’ roll more than just about anyone else.
