Had such a great time watching SP at Gunnersbury Park. The park was easy enough to get to, and quick and easy to get in. Leaving was understandably trickier, but a good effort from staff and local police to help manage the flow of people to the stations.
The Smashing Pumpkins were awesome. I won't pretend that Billy's voice is the same as it was 30 years ago, but damn can he still play a guitar! James did most, if not all of the talking and Kiki brings a refreshing new energy to the stage. The setlist was brilliant with all the expected hits, a handful of songs from the last album and some absolute scorchers from Mellon Collie...
Stage design, sound, lighting - all great. Hi-def screens either side of the stage were impressive for a temporary venue.

Overall, I found the experience very enjoyable and satisfying. However, as this was my first Smashing Pumpkins indoor concert, I found the powerful lighting on the backdrop and the extremely loud speakers, which made my eardrums vibrate, a little bothersome. I was standing around 20 meters from the edge of the stage, right in the middle. While it didn't cause any lasting problems for my eyes or ears, it was still quite distracting during the event. During the first hour, I saw more than 20 people move further back, possibly due to the intense disturbance at the front. I know this is a rock concert and that Smashing Pumpkins' music can be extremely loud during certain songs. Next time, maybe I'll be better off standing more than 100 meters from the stage if it's an indoor concert.

I was disappointed to not be able to see Jane’s Addiction, but things happen. I had never heard Poppy before and I thought it was totally cool. The Pumpkins were deadly, as always. They always bring their A game. They rock so hard! Those guitar solos! Incredible! And of course, Jimmy is always killer on drums. I did think the sound in the arena was not that great. I don’t know if it was just because of where I was sitting (section 120) , but the sound echoed back and was fairly annoying. It kind of seemed like it was too loud for the space. I have seen the Pumpkins at an outdoor venue and the sound was much better. (Still crazy loud but not echoey).

I missed the first act, Teen Mortgage but made it in time for Weezer and the rest of the Pumpkins show.
Sound for both acts was a little dodgy for the first song or two, I expect while the engineers worked on balancing the system to a full arena. Lighting was amazing and I was lucky to get some nice pics/videos on my phone for the memories!
Both Weezer and SP delivered great performances, with a wide range of classic fan-favourites and new songs alike.
I was concerned that both acts might not sound "as good as the old days" considering I started listening to them both in the mid 90's, but I was definitely proved wrong.

The Smashing Pumpkins show was one of the best shows ive ever seen. The music was superb, the riffing was awesome & the banter was entertaining. I had a great time with my girls. Id definitely see them again. The only real bummer was there werent jumbotrons so the people way in the back could see more of what was going on. Thats a gripe with the facility, though. Also, you werent allowed to bring your own water & they were charging $4 for water that was ⅓ the size of the one i bought for the show that only cost $1. I have to constantly drink water for health reasons. A**holes.
