Betty, Dorothy, and Helen Wiggin, three sisters from Fremont, New Hampshire whose 1969 album Philosophy of the World became one of the most polarizing records in rock history. Formed by their father Austin, who believed a family prophecy destined them for stardom, The Shaggs made raw, self taught music that was dismissed on release and later embraced as a landmark of outsider rock, championed by Frank Zappa, Kurt Cobain, and NRBQ. Their story is now the subject of the documentary We Are the Shaggs, directed by Ken Kwapis.
