“Between the fiddle, string bass, drums and slide guitar, you won't know what hit you.” - The New Yorker The Tarbox Ramblers’ sound is rooted in hillbilly music, backwater blues and early rock ‘n’ roll. It’s rough-hewn, dark and joyous, and unfailingly direct. Previewing the band’s no-holds-barred live show, The New Yorker said “Between the fiddle, string bass, drums and slide guitar, you won't know what hit you.” Led by songwriter Michael Tarbox, the group also features violinist Daniel Kellar and the hard-hitting rhythm section of string-bassist Johnny Sciascia and drummer Jon Cohan. Kellar’s mesmerizing solos, and Tarbox’s barbed-wire guitar, give the band its edge. The combination of Sciascia’s percussive rockabilly style and Cohan’s New Orleans parade drums is its secret sauce. The Tarbox Ramblers have released two albums on the Rounder label, toured lots and worked with heroes like Robert Plant, Allison Krauss and Jim Dickinson.
