Hailing from the remote Faroe Islands, Týr have stood at the vanguard of Nordic Metal for over two decades, seamlessly weaving Norse mythology, traditional Faroese folk, and complex progressive metal into a sound uniquely their own. Following the acclaimed 2019 release Hel, the band returned with Battle Ballads via Metal Blade Records, a seismic record that marries their trademark technical precision and galloping guitar harmonies with sweeping, majestic symphonic orchestration. Masterminded by founder/vocalist Heri Joensen alongside longtime bassist Gunnar H. Thomsen, drummer Tadeusz Rieckmann, and guitarist Hans Hammer, Týr continues to push the boundaries of Nordic Metal. The Riot Room Kansas City, MOTyr was amazing. Demons & Wizards were unreal. Lizzy Borden didn’t fit the bill with all of that glam bullshit, but their two new guitarists can certainly rip it the fuck up.
