Released on December 7th on CD, 2 x 12” and all digital platforms via Caroline International Van Morrison has announced details of a new album, The Prophet Speaks. The Prophet Speaks is Van Morrison’s 40th studio album and will be released on 7th December on Caroline International. This fourteen track album follows a recent run of hugely acclaimed albums (Roll With The Punches, Versatile and You’re Driving Me Crazy), each of which has delved deep into the musical styles that have continued to inspire Van throughout his life – vocal jazz and R&B. Here, Van takes on a series of unarguable classics by the likes of John Lee Hooker, Sam Cooke and Solomon Burke (among others) and makes them unmistakably his own. Alongside these reinterpretations, The Prophet Speaks features six phenomenal new Van Morrison compositions. Van Morrison says of The Prophet Speaks: “It was important for me to get back to recording new music as well as doing some of the blues material that has inspired me from the beginning. Writing songs and making music is what I do, and working with great musicians makes it all the more enjoyable.” The Prophet Speaks again finds Van working with the incredible multi-instrumentalist Joey DeFrancesco (the artist co-credited on You’re Driving Me Crazy) and his band (including Dan Wilson on guitar, Michael Ode on drums and Troy Roberts on tenor saxophone). The title track from The Prophet Speaks is available now as an instant grat – listen here. The tracklisting is: 1. Gonna Send You Back To Where I Got You From (Eddie "Cleanhead" Vinson, Leona Blackman) 2. Dimples (John Lee Hooker, James Bracken) 3. Got to Go Where The Love Is (Van Morrison) 4. Laughin’ and Clownin’ (Sam Cooke) 5. 5 am Greenwich Mean Time (Van Morrison) 6. Gotta Get You Off My Mind (Solomon Burke, Delores Burke, Josephine Burke Moore) 7. Teardrops (J.D. Harris) 8. I Love The Life I Live (Willie Dixon) 9. Worried Blues / Rollin’ and Tumblin’ (J.D. Harris) 10. Ain’t Gonna Moan No More (Van Morrison) 11. Love Is A Five Letter Word (Gene Barge) 12. Love Is Hard Work (Van Morrison) 13. Spirit Will Provide (Van Morrison) 14. The Prophet Speaks (Van Morrison)

I wouldn't know. It's not easy to find out what, when, where, w/whom any artist is doing anything ANYWHERE BY THE ARTIST OR VENUE AS it used to be. Glad to see a 'waste' of paper - maybe if there was a way to notify each email - automatically - w/in a month or two of each week as a block of events - per Artist/Venue.
SFJAZZ Center San Francisco, CAGreat performance by Tom Jones and Van Morrison!!! People around us were totally wasted and talked through much of the show but I learned to tune them out. Perfect evening with two musical legends!!! Van had a great vibe and I was happy that he didn’t play only his most popular and known songs. Loved every song! Great venue too!
Forest Hills Stadium Forest Hills, NYFantastic show! We’ve seen Van a few times but not in about 20 years. He is at the top of his game now, never sounded better. Of course being in the Ryman was a big part of the experience, what a great venue. Does anyone know who was the guest singer who came on for a couple of songs?
Ryman Auditorium Nashville, TNIt was all blues. Superb musicians and Van's voice has held up well, but we had to wait for the encore to hear any classics. Worth the wait for Gloria and his background singer did a lovely rendition of Moondance. Acoustically great, beautiful venue with comfortable seats and good stage visibility.
Palace Of Fine Arts Theatre San Francisco, CAVan Morrison’s Moving on Skiffle will be an amazing release. The preview we saw at the Electric Ballroom on January 15, 2023 was awesome. The band’s performance was flawless - instruments, vocals, energy, all top notch. So grateful for this very special experience.
