The Wombats return with their most sophisticated and sonically adventurous album yet. Oh! The Ocean (out February 21st 2025) grooves with social anxiety, internal strife and the tribulations of LA life, where Murph lives. Once again they provide escapism from the mundane with songwriting that has profound meaning to audiences in turbulent times, packaged in the band’s deceptively cuddly and playful façade. Oh! The Ocean marks a new era for the band, moving away from previous synthetic sounds to embrace a warmer-blooded approach. Taking 50 new songs into a studio in Echo Park, LA, in July 2024 for six weeks of sessions with new producer John Congleton (St Vincent, Wallows, Death Cab for Cutie), The Wombats shunned the AI studio techniques that have become prevalent in modern-day recording, in order to make a far more natural and human album. Alongside familiar sounds they explore new genres from glistening tech rock to sci-fi pop, futuristic fuzz rock to bluesy rock’n’roll, with touches of disco and hip-hop-inflections.

I liked pink lemonade better before I knew it was about Murphs gf having an orgy, and I wish you would have played "Be your shadow". Other than that I enjoyed when they made the audience yay just to tell them to shut up. Kill the director is still the best song.
Gasometer Vienna, AustriaThis was the first concert I attended alone. I wanted to enjoy an old favorite uninterrupted, and I did!!! Made friends along the way. Got thrown around in the mosh pit. Was surprised by all my favorites, including old album songs. These guys really spoil their fans 😍
Observatory Santa Ana, CAThis is the second time I’ve seen The Wombats. I can’t impress enough just how good this band is live. The songs are so incredibly well crafted and delivered to perfection on stage - It won’t get better than this. Indie rock perfection.
Adelaide Entertainment Centre Hindmarsh, AustraliaSimply a great concert from the 1st to the last song. The “old“ hits (Tokyo, Moving to NY, Dance to Joy D. etc) got the audience dancing and singing.. but also the new songs are working live well … simply fantastic 🎸🎉🍺
Uebel & Gefährlich Hamburg, GermanyOMG Love love love! It was so exciting to see my favourite band at one of my local music spots, rather than driving to Brisbane (not that I wouldn't have done that). But so close to home was better.
