About Amorphis
Amorphis is a Finnish metal band founded in 1990. Initially, the band was a death metal act, but on later albums they evolved into playing other genres, including progressive metal with folk music influences. They frequently use the Kalevala, the epic poem of Finland, as a source for their lyrics. Band members are: Esa Holopainen, Tomi Joutsen, Santeri Kallio, Tomi Koivusaari, Olli-Pekka Laine and Jan Rechberger. Fourteenth Amorphis album, "Halo", is out on February 11th, 2022 via Atomic Fire Records.

The concert could have been perfect, in case the sound and light guys would habe done their job. The drums were so loud that the rest was simply not heard. No clue why, because Solstafir playing before had a gret sound and no too loud drums. The light guy was only interested to blend the audiance continiously instead of enlightning the band everyone was comming out to see. Having the eyes closed due to continuous blending lights is not the reason why you want to go to live concerts….

I listen to Amorphis since 1996. I confess I am more into the Tales from the Thousands Lake and Elegy era picking few favorite songs from other albums. The concert had an amazing set list and performance. I just wished they played Against the Widows from Elegy and on the top of the most 2 traditional songs from “Tales” they could include the Castaway , which is one of their most beautiful songs ever made.

Fantastic selection of songs, phenomenal sound, neat segues, an astonishingly complete merch table, and the definitive version of Amongst Stars. The only downside was that I was hoping for them to have done more with Anneke - her solo “set” was fun, but why not bring her in for a couple more songs?
