About Boz Scaggs
BOZ SCAGGS is an American singer, songwriter, and guitarist. An early bandmate of Steve Miller in The Ardells and the Steve Miller Band, he began his solo career in 1969, though he lacked a major hit until his 1976 album Silk Degrees peaked at number 2 on the Billboard 200, and produced the hit singles “Lido Shuffle” and “Lowdown”. Scaggs produced two more platinum-certified albums in Down Two Then Left and Middle Man, the latter of which produced two top-40 singles “Breakdown Dead Ahead” and “Jojo”. After a hiatus for most of the 1980s, he returned to recording and touring in 1988, joining The New York Rock and Soul Revue and opening the nightclub Slim’s, a popular San Francisco music venue until it closed in 2020. He has continued to record and tour throughout the 1990s, 2000s, and 2010s, with his most recent album being 2018’s Out of the Blues. Scaggs is credited for helping the formation of Toto. For his 1976 album, Silk Degrees, he hand picked musicians after taking suggestions from several people. These musicians were David Paich, David Hungate, and Jeff Porcaro. The three were already friends and had frequently performed together on other albums, such as Steely Dan’s Pretzel Logic. By going on tour with Scaggs, it solidified the prospect of starting a band. Columbia picked up on this talent by offering the new group a contract “without audition”. Steve Porcaro described this as “a record deal thrown in our laps”. Paich stated “I’m not sure if Toto would have happened as soon, or quite the same way, without Silk Degrees”. Their friendship has continued throughout the decades shown by the varying collaborations and concerts performed together. Paich teamed up once more for Scaggs’ 2001 album, Dig, where he contributed to 6 out of the 11 songs.

In a beyond magnificent venue (Kimmel M Anderson Theater), Boz Scaggs played a terrific show! Band was tight, talented, real musician pros, especially a favorite best world guitarist, Jon Herington! We've seen Boz in concert maybe a dozen times. This show was one of his best, although they were all fantastic. Lot's of good songs songs with Boz' clear mellow voice. No age slowdown as he sang and sang as good as ever. Overall an enjoyable event with our star performer.

Boz Scaggs, with an opening act of Elvin Bishop and Charlie Musselwhite at Sand Mountain Amphitheater, was a spectacular concert. Boz’s voice was clear, strong, pure, and virtually flawless! His band is second to none! Sand Mountain Amphitheater is a world class venue! It has a small stage, intimate feeling with big stage sound! The management and team that support the venue are genuinely customer focused and make every effort to see that every patron need is met!

One of our greatest American artists. Why he is so under appreciated I will never be able to understand. The concert at Ballys in Lake Tahoe was fantastic as usual. When will the acknowledgement and accolades he deserves come? He is so multi talented as a great songwriter, singer and performer. They won't even induct him into the rock and roll hall of fame. This is so unfair. Francie Baker.

Mr. Skaggs was great, as usual. However, the VIP section was a joke (venue’s fault). I seriously regretted spending 2-3x the regular ticket cost for “VIP” tickets so far to the right you could barely see the stage. I would’ve rather taken my chances at General Admission. At least we would’ve been in front of stage instead of so far to the right. We could barely see Mr. Skaggs perform. Fortunately, the music was great!!!

My friends, that I gave my tickets to because I'm out of town, completely enjoyed the show. My problem is with the promotion, while playing up Boz's time in the Steve Miller Band, it made it seem (to me, at least) Steve Miller would be performing as well. Did anyone else make that mistake? Steve Miller and Boz Scaggs coheadlining would be incredible, unfortunately, that's what I thought would be happening.

He sounded great! 81 years old and his voice is still strong! But unfortunately, he only played 30 minutes of the hits we all know and love. The other 90 minutes were filled with blues music that we didn’t know. And because we didn’t already know the lyrics and the sound system wasn’t the best, we couldn’t quite make out what he was singing. But he is still amazing!

Amazing! He still has it at 79!! We have seen Boz and his band over 10+ times and this was perhaps the best sounding arrangement of musicians we have seen. The band was tight & responsive, & sounded great. Loved the new saxophone, keyboardist, etc.. from Minneapolis!! He was terrific & really added a new dimension to a number of Boz classics. Thank you Boz!!! 💖

Thanks for an excellent evening. You and your band did not disappoint. You were excellent as usual. I’m 81 and still rockin to your music. I’ve been waiting 60 years to see you in person Long stretch but I was thrilled to see you in person again. I lived in Chicago then and continued to listen to your music. Rock on Boz. Still the greatest.

The theatre was quaint. The sound system was phenomenal! Boz didn’t want to stop playing since the sound was awesome. He did 3 encores and I think the audience could have listened all night. He played most of his greatest hits, and threw in a couple they don’t normally play because they were enjoying the theatre’s ambience so much. It was a fantastic night.

Great show! Boz Scaggs is a cool dude and that’s reflected in his performance. It’s great how he steps back from the spot light to ensure the musicians receive the recognition they deserve. Great band and a great show. I could’ve listened all night. My dream is to get to sing with Boz, but if it never happens, I’ll still enjoy listening to him!
