Fuji Records and began receiving regular rotation on both KEXP and mainstream alternative station The End. Their first show as The Cops, they shared a sold-out bill with The Walkmen. They continued to play shows with Sebadoh, The Kills and The Hold Steady, who eventually took them along for a West coast tour in Summer 2005. A year later, the band added Drew Church on bass guitar. After 2 years and 110 live shows, Church was enlisted as a permanent member.
