Formed in 2008, The Dread Crew of Oddwood hails from Southern California and are hastily becoming one of the biggest independent folk metal acts in the world. Armed exclusively with acoustic instruments, these pirates infuse the raw energy of heavy metal with Celtic and European folk music to tell tales of comrades lost, bloody sieges, drunken debauchery, and all manner of villainous misadventures. The Dread Crew of Oddwood have aptly dubbed this unique style “Heavy Mahogany.” They have independently released 4 albums (over 6,000 units sold), retain more than 30,000 monthly Spotify listeners, and engage with over 32,500 followers on social media. With the release of their 4th album, Lawful Evil, The Dread Crew of Oddwood unleashed an explosive music video for the single “Sulfur“. They later compiled their most impressive and hilarious studio footage of the second single “Dead Man’s Medley“, which earned a placement in the award-winning video game Rocket League. The band also released a Disney sing-along style lyric video for the party anthem “Raise Your Pints.” The Dread Crew of Oddwood have performed their music for dancing, moshing, drinking, and partying land lubbers across North America, the British Isles, and Western Europe, accumulating a commendable cult following in metal and folk music communities alike. As direct support on Alestorm’s North America Piratefest Tour in 2015 and UK Piratefest Tour in 2018, they entertained several sold out shows with an average of 1,000 fans in attendance. In 2019, The Dread Crew of Oddwood returned to mainland Europe for their second headlining tour, which culminated with 9 performances at the Wacken Winter Nights festival in Wacken, Germany. With a yearning to push their musical abilities to new heights, between 2019 and 2023, the band of brigands wrote, recorded, and finalized their harder, faster, more ridiculous, and long-awaited follow-up to Lawful Evil, Rust & Glory. After the release of their 5th album, they released a music video for “Leather Ship,” embarked on the Battle Ballads North America Spring 2024 tour as support for Týr and Trollfest, performed aboard 70000 Tons of Metal 2025 and at Mad With Power Fest 8, and crossed the Atlantic Ocean to tour with Korpiklaani, Finntroll, Heidevolk, and Trollfest on Heidenfest 2026.
