iC1s broke onto the scene in 2011 with the release of their debut single Levitate, recorded in a London basement for £50, but still landing in the UK Top 200. Touted by Creation Records legend Alan McGee, championed by BBC 6 Music’s Steve Lamacq, and signed by a Libertine, the band went on to share stages with the likes of DMAs, Carl Barat, The View, Reverend & The Makers, and many more. By 2014, the band were recording their debut album with Barny Barnicott (Arctic Monkeys/Kasabian), headlining and selling out London’s Scala, and touring extensively across the UK. However, in keeping with the long-standing tradition of bands unravelling through ego, arguments, and bad management, iC1s split in late 2014 before the album’s release. To mark 10 years since their dissolution, iC1s returned in October 2024 for a sold-out comeback show at The Camden Assembly. On 3rd October 2025, the band finally released their debut album, What Took You So Long?, on digital and vinyl, hitting over 100,000 streams within a month, with vinyl selling out in HMV and Rough Trade. The release was followed by support slots with The Rifles, a sold-out headline show at Camden’s 600-capacity Dingwalls, and further sold-out dates supporting Inspiral Carpets on their winter tour. In January 2026, the band returned to the studio to begin work on their second album, releasing new singles ‘Outta Reach’ and ‘That Was Then’ in March and April, alongside a headline show at Manchester’s Deaf Institute. In July 2026, iC1s will complete recording their follow-up album, scheduled for release in early 2027. The band will celebrate with their biggest headline show to date at London’s 800-capacity O2 Academy Islington in February 2027.
