Whitey Morgan and the 78’s Whitey Morgan is an American Honky Tonk artist from Flint, Michigan. In Flint, the factories are closed, jobs are scarce and the people are bitter. Whitey sings songs these people can relate to. In much the same way his grandfather and mentor did over 3 decades ago, to a whole generation of southern transplants who came up US-23 to Flint looking for the good life. In the spirit of William Morgan, Waylon, Merle and Paycheck; Whitey’s melodies help people forget their problems for a few hours and serve as the guideline for drinking sorrows away. Emerging from the Detroit area music scene, Whitey relentlessly tours the country spreading his sound and attitude everywhere he goes. He play's honky tonk tunes in any club in any town without apology—he and his band mates drive their point home just like their families drove the cars they built on the line home from work. With a purpose. Ripping 200+ shows a year, you can count on Whitey Morgan to deliver and then some. "If I could, I'd play everyday all day. Maybe at some point, I'll be so lucky to have such an option." If you asked his feverishly loyal audience, they'd firm agree with him. "My fans are nothing short of amazing. Whitey was great. Music got a lil to loud and distorted at the end . As soon as the show was over the place shut the stage curtain and started running everyone off. I thought was kinda rude but hey it was in a casino
Mississippi Moon Bar at Diamond Jo Dubuque Dubuque, IAWhitey Morgan and the 78’s was an awesome show. Great venue very intimate. Would give 5 stars if the male Bartender in the main bar wasn’t so horrible. The opposite of friendly. Acted like I was putting him out asking for a cocktail.
Observatory San Diego, CAI was at the Friday night show and it was awesome. Alex Williams and Whitey Morgan were both excellent, I was able to get a seat which was a good thing for me and the crowd all behaved themselves, fun night!
Off Broadway St. Louis, MOPlayed through the songs quick. Seemed like they wanted to get the show over with, no encore. Venue was ventilated nicely but security were unfriendly and rushed everyone out not giving a chance for an encore. Vibe was off all around.
The Complex Salt Lake City, UTThe opening act, Taylor Hunnicutt was awesome. She really got the crowd going with her Alabama sound! Great voice and lots of great music. Whitey and the 78s finished with a great show. Overall great experience.
