About Gerald Crabb
Gerald Crab was born in Rosine, Kentucky, a small rural town, which is also the birthplace of Bill Monroe, the founder of bluegrass music. At age five, Gerald sang for the first time in public at a church in Louisville, Kentucky. Even as a child he had a passion for music, and by the time he was 11, he had learned to play the guitar. At the age of 16 he began his ministry and preached his first sermon in a small church near Horse Branch, Kentucky. Since his ministry began, he has pastored seven churches—two of which he founded. He has written over 500 songs and has had 26 national number one songs. From Jan. 1998-Dec. 2006, one or more of his songs held the number one spot on the national southern gospel chart for 37 months out of a 107-month period. 1994 Gerald founded the international known group The Crabb Family. Gerald has won multiple songwriter of the year awards, 42nd Annual 2011 Dove Awards – Song Writer of the year 42nd Annual 2011 Dove Awards – Song of the year “Sometimes I Cry”, Recorded by Jason Crabb Including five other Dove Awards and the prestigious BMI Christian songwriter and BMI publisher of the year awards. For nine consecutive years he was selected by the GMA to perform at the Songwriters’ Showcase with other writers such as Michael W. Smith, Steven Curtis Chapman, Nicole C. Mullen, Bart Mallard, Kirk Franklin, Mac Powell, Mark Hall, and many others. This singer, songwriter, and preacher has had the opportunity to appear on the Gaither Videos, TBN, The 700 Club, the INSP, CMT & GAC. He has also performed at Carnegie Hall, The Grand Ole Opry, The Ryman Auditorium, Red Rocks Colorado, and The Brooklyn Tabernacle. Many of the songs that this songwriter has written have been recorded by popular groups and singers such as The Crabb Family, Randy Travis, Marie Osmond, Marty Raybon, Larry Sparks, Jason Crabb, The Gaither Vocal Band, The Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir, Donny McClurkin, Karen Peck, The Talley Trio, The Hoppers, and many others. Through The Fire, written by Gerald Was featured on the 51st Annual Grammy Award winning Album Glory Train- Randy Travis (Best Southern, Country, or Bluegrass Gospel album Category.) It was featured on the 52nd Annual Grammy winning Album, Jason Crabb-Jason Crabb (Best Southern, Country, or Bluegrass Gospel album Category.) Gerald and his wife, Debi, make their home in Ripley, Mississippi. Their 2011 schedule included 197 appointments including concerts, camp meetings, and revivals.
