Den niederländischen Gitarristen Julian Sas, kann man getrost als einen der angesehensten seiner Art in Kontinentaleuropa bezeichnen. Dank seines musikalischen Elternhauses ist Sas schon früh mit Jimi Hendrix, Alvin Lee, Peter Green und natürlich dem Gitarrengott Rory Gallagher in Kontakt gekommen: „Der Held für mich schlechthin ist Rory Gallagher. Zwischen 1987 und 1992 hab ich ihn insgesamt 21 mal live gesehen.“ Mittlerweile hat er seine Setlist verändert und spielt kaum noch Gallagher Titel. Er hat es einfach auch nicht mehr nötig, sich mit fremden Federn zu schmücken. Sein eigenes Repertoire ist mittlerweile so umfangreich und stilistisch breiter geworden, dass er sich nicht zu verstecken braucht. Es ist nicht mehr angebracht Julian Sas als reinen Gallagher Interpreten anzusehen. Sein jüngstes Album, das 16., mit dem bezeichnenden Titel „Stand Your Ground“, ist nun das ambitionierteste von ihm. Es wurde analog aufgenommen und ist im typischen Stil der 70er Jahre produziert. Blues- u. Classic-Rock, viel groove, harte Hammondorgel-Sounds und treibenden Bass wechseln sich ab und hinterlassen einen massiven Eindruck. Auf der nun anstehenden Tournee durch Deutschland, die Schweiz, Österreich und Osteuropa wird Julian Sas beweisen, dass er nun endgültig in der obersten Liga angekommen ist.
