About Poppy
Singer, songwriter, subversive performance artist, video director, and high priestess of no fucks given, Poppy is thrilled to announce her forthcoming new album, Zig, set for release on Sumerian Records on October 27th, 2023. Recorded with producer Ali Payami, as well as her long term collaborative partner Simon Wilcox, Zig is at once tender and tough, filled with bold, electronic beats, and deep metal rock riffs reminiscent of early 90s industrial sounds. The mononymous Poppy is a unique, multi-hyphenate creation. Originating from a dance background, Poppy’s first steps in the creative world began with performance art video vignettes. The importance of these videos took prominence over the music she made to accompany them, but eventually, as the intimacy of the songs became too strong to let anyone else touch them, she progressed into singing, screaming, songwriter, and more, finding an outlet that would allow her to pull apart her journals, dig deep visually, and experiment sonically to create something entirely new.

Soul rocked by Poppy's screaming. It was awesome and if only I was not burning to death in the Florida heat and could've gotten closer to the stage. The festival audience seemed to be a lot of older people who didn't really know her so the crowd was smaller than some of the other acts and they didn't have as much energy which is a SHAME as the show was great.

This was my second time seeing Poppy and she was, of course, absolutely incredible again!! She is the most genuine and in my opinion, one of the greatest artists to exist so far. If you ever consider seeing her, then I hugely suggest you do! She is just AMAZING

Poppy was great. Loved her mix of old and new songs. Also the sound bites in the middle and beginning of her set was so cool. It was almost like a throwback to her YouTube days of interviewing a plant and saying "I'm Poppy".

Haven’t been to Newport since 2019 so driving down to catch Mz Neon and Poppy was a great first trip back in a long time. Poppy was phenomenal and the energy given from the stage to the crowd elevated the feel of the show.

The first time I saw her, she opened for Jane’s addiction and Smashing Pumpkins and had a lot of lip syncing and backing tracks. This time not as much and I actually enjoyed most of the set.
