Soul Asylum has been inspiring an incredible level of passion for their music since 1981, when the band, initially known as Loud Fast Rules, formed in Minneapolis. The band's raucous live sets and early releases on the hometown indie label Twin/Tone —including the albums Say What You Will, Made to Be Brokenand While You Were Out —earned it a loyal fan base and widespread critical acclaim.Soul Asylum's indie success led to the band entering the major-label mainstream with 1988's Hang Timeand its 1990 follow-up And the Horse They Rode In On, and achieving a platinum-level commercial breakthrough with 1992's Grave Dancers Union (3x platinum)and 1995's Let Your Dim Light Shine. Grave Dancers Union featured the international hits "Runaway Train," which won a 1994 Grammy as Best Rock Song, and "Black Gold," while Let Your Dim Light Shine (platinum) spawned the hit "Misery." The band went on hiatus after 1998's Candy from a Stranger, during which time Pirner released his first solo effort, Faces & Names. Soul Asylum returned to action in 2006 with The Silver Lining, Delayed Reactionsix years later and most recently with 2016’s Change of Fortune.

Wasn't sure if two musicians instead of the entire band would be any good. Boy, was I wrong. They were great-it sounded like there was more than two people playing. Their singing was spot on and guitar playing filled the venue. Would see them again if they come through Leesburg again.
Tally Ho Theater Leesburg, VAWas a little bummed at first that they had to go acoustic due to covid, but Dave and Ryan sounded great and was able to rock out and get the crowd singing our hearts out and air playing drums. Was great fun but I can't wait to hear them LOUD and FAST Soon!
Pavilion Romeoville, ILSo glad I found out that Soul Asylum were touring and I got to see a band I first got into 30 years ago. Dave's vocals were still just as good, and a tight band that put on a great show. Really enjoyed it and look forward to hopefully seeing them again.
The Fleece Bristol, United KingdomI would make it a 5 if the tornado and rain didn't cut the show short after 8 songs. But they were on fire. It was one of their best shows! It wasn't their fault they had to stop due to the weather. I hope they come back soon.
Brookfield Zoo Brookfield, ILThe band deserved a larger audience. High energy performance with minimal audience feedback. Must have been exhausting. Quality band focus from start to finish. Many in audience seemed to have come to see the Runaway song, which may be understandable. Four Stars - all musicians were great.
