Todd Rundgren is an American singer, songwriter, and producer who started in the 60s with the psychedelic band Nazz in Philadelphia. His solo career started out successfully with such hits as I Saw the Light and Hello It's Me (which was a reworked Nazz tune). He formed a band called Utopia (or Todd Rundgren's Utopia) which concentrated on eccentric progressive epics, while also continuing to release solo albums. His production work started early, with work for Sparks, New York Dolls, and continued with Meat Loaf, XTC and The Psychedelic Furs, and many others. Todd Rundgren is well known among his fans as being an electronic music revolutionary. His production techniques, and his belief that he has ability to play just about any instrument at a mastery level, allowed him to release some of the most honest and personal music of his time. Many of his solo albums, including Something/Anything were made completely by himself. That is, he played all the instruments, sang all the vocals, did all of the recording, editing, mixing, and mastering, and even distributed the album through his own record label, Bearsville. In the particular case of Something/Anything, there was actually one side (side 4) which featured songs performed by a studio band, placed on the album to show Todd's ability in working with musicians. For over thirty years now, Todd Rundgren has had a very successful musical career. He is currently performing in the band The New Cars, which features two of his own band members, and two of the remaining The Cars members. In addition, he released a solo album in 2004 entitled Liars, which featured the recurring theme of deceit and broken promises. He toured with a strong band for this album, which included his long-time bassist Kasim Sulton, and former The Tubes drummer, Prarie Prince. On September 29th, Rundgren released his 20th studio album "Arena" via Cooking Vinyl Records in the UK (Hi-Fi Recordings in the USA), to critical acclaim. Rundgren will tour the UK in November 2008. Dates includes Manchester Academy 2 (Nov 6), Edinburgh Picture House (Nov 7), Norwich Waterfront (Nov 22) and London Kentish Town Forum (Nov 23).

The best! You could tell he was enjoying the music himself. Who knew he could dance?! He showed us the quality of his band and he obviously had fun doing it. He also played what he enjoyed --Marvin Gaye, the Impressions and Smokey Robinson. It was a great night. No surprise at how good it was.
Tobin Center for the Performing Arts San Antonio, TXThere is only one Todd. Does he hit every note? No. Who cares? His arrangements are amazing, his band had as much fun as he did. And he brings everyone. I see him a few times now I expect to see him again. At least I hope so.
Findlay Toyota Center Prescott Valley, AZI enjoyed the music. It was weird, inciteful , and soulful. I was disappointed at songs I actually knew he rolled into one song at the encore. Was really looking forward to hearing those. One positive, he still has a good voice.
Mars Music Hall Huntsville, ALHe is always wonderful in concert. We had a great time, and this was our 6th time seeing him in concert. He keeps it fresh with new music and a bit of the oldies we still love. Can't wait until he's in town again.
The Pageant St Louis, MOExcellent set, high energy, with lots of tunes not in Top 40 radio routine that were fun to hear live. Played two hours, appreciated by audience. Todd's voice in great shape, band was tight, nice light show too. Go see them soon.
