The Dead South have never been about constant reinvention, but about full commitment to their own singular way. With confidence in their sound and style and trust in each other, The Dead South arrive at the cusp of explosive global success in an enviable, and well-earned, position: total autonomy. It doesn’t really matter what you call their music - progressive bluegrass, alternative Americana, country, folk and western, what matters is that this is theirs, and people from all different backgrounds, beliefs, experiences, languages and ages love it. True blue right through, The Dead South don’t shy away from ruffling traditionalists’ feathers from time to time, as they flawlessly execute banjo rolls and lightning-fast mandolin tremolos, 3-part harmonies and songs of classic themes -murder ballads, disloyalty, ghosts and the like, all with a wink and a smile. As they continue their climb to the top, The Dead South have learned an important lesson: If you’re going to be outsiders, you’d better be great. Confirmed by the passion of their Dead South cosplaying fans, who go to concerts in the band’s signature look, this four-piece acoustic set from the middle of the Canadian prairies have found their people. Good Company, as they call themselves, is a global community of vastly dissimilar folks who might not see eye to eye, but who stand shoulder to shoulder at the gigs.

The Dead South last night was utterly amazing!!! I had seen them at the Opry last fall but they only performed 15 min so seeing the full set last night was perfection! They played extra long since they had the day off today. The experience of the caves was awesome. The sound is extraordinary. Sunny War was the opener and she was soulful and moody at the same time. Can't wait for my next TDS show!!
The Caverns Pelham, TNReally great show! The Dead South was really interactive with the crowd. And, the set design was astounding! The lights were a visual delight! And the sound was top tier. The show got cut a little early as the smoke alarm had gone off and the crowd had to be ushered out. Turns out it was just an issue with the hazer/fog effects (according to The Lincoln's Facebook post). Fortunately, it wasn't anything serious!
The Lincoln Cheyenne Cheyenne, WYAt 76 years young, I loved it, but, the trains were annoying. Couldn't stand for all that time, so we, my sister and I, sat in the ADA seating....Her new phone caught the acts, my older Samsung could not hold a candle to it. We both had a great time, but, bemoaned the fact that we couldn't get closer to the cello... a country girl.
Bell's Eccentric Cafe Kalamazoo, MIFantastic. Dead South's first Australian tour. So pleased we were able to go. Travelled all the way from Melbourne to see them play as they were sold out at home. Venue was packed. Group were amazing. Was like a large song along for much of it. What energetic and polished performers. It was such a good night. Best live music act I have seen in a very long time.
Northcote Theatre Northcote, AustraliaI had a great time at the show. The only thing that kept me from giving the show 5 stars is that they played zero songs off of the "Easy Listening for Jerks Volumes 1 & 2." I would have thought that they would have, at least, played "Will the Circle Be Unbroken" since the show was at the Ryman and that is an iconic song.
