About The Interrupters
When considering Los Angeles outfit The Interrupters, take a moment to kindly forget jargon like “SoCal punk rock” or “next wave ska” or whatever perimeter you want to secure around them. A typical Interrupters gig feels like going to church where all the religious iconography is taken out and replaced with mirrors so the band and audience become one. Ignited by frontwoman Aimee Interrupter and the Bivona brothers’ indefatigable enthusiasm, attendees can see joy in action; discover strength in numbers; and feel bulletproof when facing the forces that haunt them. There are no victims or outcasts in attendance when the quartet are onstage: Transfixed by the legendary ‘80s 2 Tone ska movement and fueled with a contemporary energy that makes 180-bpm thrash-metallers seem positively slack, Aimee Interrupter and the Bivona brothers Kevin, Justin and Jesse blur the enthusiasm between band and audience in a way that’s equal parts dance party, cardio workout and personal therapy. The Interrupters formed in the band’s hometown of Los Angeles in 2011. Guitarist Kevin Bivona and his twin brothers Justin (bass) and Jesse (drums) were thrilled by the 90’s punk-rock resurgence as well as the groove, energy, and messages found in the original 2 Tone ska bands. Prior to meeting Aimee, the Bivonas were mainstays of Tim Timebomb And Friends, the ad hoc band founded by Tim Armstrong, working in the studio and backing the Rancid co-founder on tours. It was only after the Bivonas met Aimee in 2009 and started playing together did The Interrupters know they had a 100db je ne sais quois between them. Armstrong has been a mentor, producer, and acted as an honorary “fifth Interrupter” with the band, offering sage advice to parallel the band’s sweat equity. Their self-titled 2014 debut caught on like pacific coast wildfire, bolstered by incredible songs, Aimee’s 100,000-watt charisma, and a stage presence best described as the kinetic energy of Hi-Bounce balls in human form. The Interrupters maintained their velocity across two additional LPs, Say It Out Loud (2016) and 2018’s tour de force, Fight The Good Fight, all issued on Hellcat, Armstrong’s imprint via Epitaph Records. And let’s not forget the relentless touring that included a stint on the Vans Warped Tour and various support slots for punk-rock royalty such as Rancid, Bad Religion, Green Day, among others.

Excellent set, though it seemed like they forced some deep cuts with trombone parts into the set in order to give the trombone player something to do. The venue is not ideal for a punk show. Having steel beams where mosh pits form is a massive liability. Additionally, the egress point from the main room is not well-placed and should be redone so that showgoers can safely enter and exit at a crowded show and not fear being trampled by a drunk dude who’s in a rush to get to the bathroom.

Amazing show! We went for the Interrupters, but thoroughly enjoyed Sum 41 ... Many Eyes wasn't exactly my cup of tea, but they had good energy, and I hope they have a great career in the music industry. As for The Interrupters, they were perfect ... musically, they are top notch ... I wish they'd had their own lighting crew because the stage was really dark for most of their show. In fact, the lights behind their drop cloth were going even though they weren't lighting the band at all ...

First time seeing a band at History. What a great venue. Love the Interrupters! Such great energy and heart. They really connect with the audience. Aimee is definitely my secret crush. Don’t tell my wife! Although I am a relic from the days of the Clash and Ramones. Didn’t know that much about Frank Turner but wow he is amazing live. Even recovering from an illness he really got the audience singing and dancing. Really enjoyed Chuck Ragan as well. Love his voice. A great night for sure!

Thank you for your amazing show in Paris!!! It was unforgettable!!! You guys give the best of you to your fans!!! I know the 4th of July is a special day for you Americans. So, it was an honor to spend that incredible moment with you that day. I really enjoyed Aimee's charisma. You are a beautiful person in every sense of the word. And I enjoyed the boys' communicative energy as well. Can't wait to see you again. You guys will always be welcome to our country.

Interrupters are one of those bands that humbly act like an up and coming hit maker and then you remember they already are one. The show felt like I was witnessing the birth of a new group - so much energy as if they haven't been touring either together or alone for decades already. The vocals did not disappoint - and I will always be a fan of Aimee's sound. And DANG that trombonist was on fire! Had enough wind to inflate four car tires to 30psi.

It was an absolutely amazing show. The energy was infectious. The sold-out crowd was one of the best I've ever seen. The whole line up was incredible, and The Interrupters stole the show. Covering The Violent Femmes is always gonna be a fantastic way to start a set in MKE, especially when it's done this well. We want at least one Interrupters show per year. While you're at it, hit Madison and Chicago so we can make a whole weekend out of it.

The Interrupters are the greatest and are absolutely amazing. That venue is garbage for concerts. Columns in the middle of the crowd. There's no flow. It's in a disgusting area with garbage everywhere. It literally stinks and there's nowhere to get food close to the venue. The only good thing is that they figured out how to eliminate long lines for booze with preloading bracelets. Probably stole our data while they're at it.

My last time with The Interrupters they were supporting in 2018 Bad Religion (and I never heard of them at that time). In between they became one of my favourite bands and it has been nice to meet them again: they have the same positive mood, nice music and they are still big party. A part of the audience didn't know them yet but everybody was happy and enjoying the music. I really loved them also this time!

I flew in from Australia the night before and drove 4hrs to catch this show with my partner. We were up front and Aimee and I sang at each other a handful of times, and then at the end of the night she handed me a signed setlist. Their energy on stage is amazing and their performance is phenomenal. Thankyou for such an amazing memory! I will be trying to catch as many shows as I can!
