At this show I heard Ani play the best version of Joyful Girl I have ever heard her play. I’ve been seeing her play live since 1997 and heard Joyful Girl live at least 20 times. The version this night made the night. My only issue with the show was the 2 drunk women sitting behind me & my husband. They knew the “hits” which they sung at the top of their terrible voices. During songs they didn’t know they chatted loudly. They sucked as people. The staff at the Calvin we no help with these specimens.
Calvin Theatre Northampton, MAThe restored Lansdowne Theater is excellent! It is beautiful inside, has great acoustics, there is not a bad seat in the house, and there is plenty of room in the seats and between the rows. The opening act, Valerie June, was a wonderful counterpoint to Ani's music and style. Ani and her band were on target, tight, and played fantastically together. Ani was engaging and playful, while being deep and insightful. We loved the show and will see her again anytime we have the chance.
Lansdowne Theater Lansdowne, PAAni DiFranco was amazing. She was passionate, energetic, friendly, happy, and having fun. She played so many good old songs. She kept her poise during interruptions and told stories. The sound quality and volume were perfect. The audience was excited and loving. It’s like when her fans congregate, we’re long lost family to each other. Ani DiFranco is an inspiration. This show was especially meaningful after reading her book.
Observatory Santa Ana, CAI love Ani!! This was my first time at the venue and at an Ani Difranco concert. The venue is intimate with a festival vibe. Ani has an incredible energy in her live performance. My only complaint is that she left me wanting more!! The venue sound was full and clear and I was right up at the stage. The vibe of the crowd was friendly and fun!
Heartwood Soundstage Gainesville, FLAmazing concert! A very nice opening duo, 30 minutes of rain and 30 minutes of waiting for the appropriate checks and then Ani in great shape with a fantastic setlist. Excellent musicians, I liked the choice of a pedal steel guitar. Very small defects, in my opinion, in the sound of the PA but the location is not acoustically optimal, however overall a more than good sound.
